Vice president breaks tie vote.
The Senate voted Friday morning to move forward with the next round of COVID-19 relief aid for Americans. The vote was split down the aisle 50-to-50 with Vice President Harris casting the tie-breaking vote. The minority party has stated that the $1.9 trillion relief package supported by the president is too high. The measure will now be debated and refined with a goal of being passed before the end of March.
Later on Friday, President Biden laid out his approach to pass the relief without the support of minority party lawmakers saying “I believe the American people are looking right now to their government for help, to do our job, to not let them down. So I’m going to act. I’m going to act fast. I’d like to be doing it with [bipartisan] support … they’re just not willing to go as far as I think we have to go.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would guide Congress on the laws to pass to benefit Americans.
- For the Lord to give the president wisdom on how best to bring a swift end to the pandemic.
- That God would help the White House and Congress to cooperate for the good of all Americans.
